GMC 2022 Acadia
The GMC Acadia is a family-friendly crossover with a rugged exterior look. It provides passengers with spacious seating in the first two rows and comes well-equipped with technology and safety features. For the 2022 model year, GMC streamlined the trim lineup by discontinuing the base SL trim and removing the base 2.5-liter engine as an option. Also new for 2022, the Acadia gained several driver-assist technologies as standard features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The SLE is now the entry-level Acadia. It has 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. A bump up to the SLT adds LED fog lights, roof rails, a hands-free liftgate, and the option for heated side mirrors. Choose the AT4 for all-terrain tires and upgraded 17-inch wheels. It also has black exterior trim elements to make it stand out from the other trims. The Denali is the most upscale Acadia. It has 20-inch wheels, a unique grille, power-folding and heated side exterior mirrors, and an upgraded grille. Add the Ultimate Package to the Denali for a panoramic sunroof, a tow package, and adaptive suspension.
Engine (Power)
The Acadia now offers a choice between two powertrains. The entry-level engine is now a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that puts out 228 horsepower, which is a boost in power from last year. The AT4 and Denali come with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 310 horsepower, and this engine is an available option for the SLT.
Performance
Front-wheel drive comes standard with both engines, and all-wheel drive is optional for all but the AT4, where it comes standard. The optional adaptive suspension for the AT4 and Denali does an excellent job of smoothing out rough roads or tightening up when the driver wants to test out curvy mountain roads.
Interior
Inside the Acadia, you'll find three rows of seats and room for up to seven. The cabin has an upscale, premium feel, especially if you have the Denali trim. Features such as tri-zone automatic climate control come standard, but moving up to the SLT gets you leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The Denali adds ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated seats in the second row, and driver's seat memory settings.
The technology features start with an 8-inch touch screen, five USB ports, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. You'll get navigation in the SLT, along with an eight-speaker stereo with HD radio, and the Denali has wireless charging and a digital instrument panel.
Safety Features
Every Acadia comes with the GMC Pro Safety Plus group of advanced driver aids. This bundle includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, front pedestrian braking, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. Choosing the AT4 gets you hill-descent control, hill start assist, and the option for hitch guidance with hitch view.
The Denali adds a head-up display and offers the Technology Package with a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic braking for the forward-collision warning system. This package also comes with a digital rearview camera.
